LensCap

Terms of Service

LensCap was called Radium until October 2026. Only the name changed: accounts, clips and these terms carry over as they were.

Last updated 22 October 2026

These terms cover the LensCap application and the clip sharing service at clips.lenscap.gg. Installing LensCap or creating an account means you accept them.

The short version

Record what you like, as long as it is lawful and you have the right to record it. Do not upload anything illegal, anything that is not yours, or anything designed to harm someone. Pro is US$5 a month and you can cancel whenever you want. Your clips remain yours. We keep the service running as best we can but cannot promise it will never break.

1. Who you are dealing with

LensCap is owned, built and run by Maxolith Studios (maxolith.com.au; ABN 27 184 513 885, Perth, Western Australia, Australia), referred to below as "we" or "us". Contact: [email protected].

For subscriptions bought through our site, we are the seller and merchant of record. Payment is processed by Stripe.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 to use LensCap or create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use LensCap with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for any payment.

3. Your licence to use LensCap

The LensCap application is free. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use it on computers you control. You may not sell it, rent it, or pass it off as your own. You may not remove or alter its branding and then distribute it.

LensCap bundles third-party software, including FFmpeg, which remains under its own licence and is not ours to relicense to you.

4. Your account

You need an account only to share clips from our server. Recording, trimming and playing clips locally require nothing.

Keep your password to yourself, and treat the API key the app stores as a password, because that is what it is. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to it.

We ask you to confirm your email address before you can share anything. This exists to stop the service being used as free anonymous file hosting, and for no other reason.

5. What you record

LensCap records your screen and, if you switch it on, your microphone. Everything it captures stays on your computer unless you explicitly share a clip. We never see it, and we have no way to see it.

You are responsible for what you point it at. Do not use LensCap to capture material you are not entitled to capture, including other people's private information, payment details, confidential work material, or anything a service you use forbids recording.

Your responsibility, not ours

Microphone capture can record other people in a voice call, and screen capture can record what they send you. The law on recording another person differs by country and by state, and some places require the consent of everyone involved. LensCap provides the controls; whether you may lawfully use them in a given situation is your decision and your responsibility.

If you publish a clip containing someone else, you are responsible for having the right to do so. If someone asks us to remove a clip of them, we will generally do so.

7. What you may share

You may not upload, share or link anything that:

We do not pre-screen uploads. We do act on reports, and we may remove anything that breaks these rules and close the account behind it.

Do not attempt to bypass tier limits, automate bulk uploads, probe or attack the service, or use it in a way that degrades it for other people.

8. Your content stays yours

You keep all ownership of everything you record and upload. We claim nothing.

To host a clip for you we need a narrow permission, so you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and transmit that clip solely to provide the service: serving it to whoever opens its link, generating a thumbnail, and keeping backups. This licence ends when you delete the clip or close your account. It does not let us publish your clips elsewhere, use them in marketing, or train anything on them, and we will not.

A shared clip is unlisted rather than private: anyone with the link can open it. That is the point of a share link, and it is worth understanding before you share something sensitive.

9. Copyright and takedowns

If you believe something hosted here infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the clip's link, a description of the work, your contact details, and a statement that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them. We will remove genuine infringements promptly, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

10. LensCap Pro, billing and cancellation

Recording is free and always will be. LensCap Pro raises the limits on what may be shared through our server. Recording quality is never affected by your tier.

Pro costs US$5 per month, billed monthly in advance through Stripe, and renews automatically until cancelled. Prices are in US dollars; your bank may add a conversion fee we neither set nor receive.

Cancel whenever you like, from your account page. Cancelling stops the next payment. You keep Pro for the rest of the period you have already paid for, and are not charged again. We do not require notice, and there is no cancellation fee.

If your subscription lapses, clips already uploaded remain subject to the free tier's storage quota and retention period, so clips beyond those limits may be removed. Download anything you want to keep before cancelling.

We may change the price. If we do, you will be told before it applies to you, and you can cancel rather than accept it.

11. Refunds

Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, and those rights prevail over anything in these terms. If the service is faulty, not as described, or does not do what we said it would, you are entitled to a remedy regardless of what this section says.

Beyond that: if Pro is not what you expected, email us within 14 days of a payment and we will refund it. If a fault on our side stopped you using what you paid for, tell us and we will refund or extend the period. We do not generally refund a month you have used and then decided against, but ask anyway, because we would rather you were not annoyed than keep five dollars.

12. Availability and change

LensCap is run by one person on a small number of servers. We aim to keep it up and will fix what breaks, but we do not promise any particular uptime, and there will be outages, maintenance and occasional faults.

We may add, change or withdraw features. If we ever shut the sharing service down we will give reasonable notice and time to download your clips, and refund any unused subscription time.

Keep your own copies of anything that matters. The service is a convenient way to share a clip, not a backup, and clips are deleted automatically on the schedule in clause 10.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using LensCap and close your account at any time; email us and we will delete it and everything attached to it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will remove content that does. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Serious cases, in particular anything involving material that sexualises a minor, are acted on immediately and reported.

14. Liability

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those guarantees, and where we are permitted to limit our liability for breaching one, we limit it to resupplying the service or paying the cost of doing so.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows: LensCap is provided as is; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost opportunities, or lost or corrupted recordings; and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or AU$100.

We are not responsible for what other users share, or for what a game, platform or service does in response to your use of a recorder.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from content you upload, from your breach of these terms or the law, or from your infringement of someone else's rights. This does not apply to anything caused by our own breach or negligence.

16. Governing law and general

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not deprive you of protections your local law gives you that cannot be contracted out of.

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, it is severed and the rest continues to apply. Not enforcing something once does not waive it. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about LensCap.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and material changes will be announced on the site or by email rather than made quietly. Continuing to use LensCap after a change means you accept it; if you do not, stop using the service and close your account.
